The Department of Agricultural Management as key center of studies in agricultural economics and agribusiness in the region.

The academic and research programs including manpower and facilities are continuously upgraded to achieve the department’s mission:

To enhance the quality of the management of problems and sustainable development efforts of agricultural and related sectors through the provision of economic and management knowledge, analytical skills, and competent agents of socio-economic change.

OBJECTIVES

To provide students with a university-level education so that they may fully contribute to the economic development and integrate with local, national, and global communities.

To provide students with the essential knowledge and understanding to permit them to perform effective professional role in a dynamic, economic, and social environment.

To equip students with analytical and planning skills in solving real-world problems.

To train students to a level of competence that would enable them to be entrepreneur and/or employed in the public or private sectors of the economy in professional, managerial, and executive positions.

DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE

GOAL

Sustain continuing professional growth in   the field of Agriculture and develop leaders with high-level training in Animal Science and Biotechnological research and offer opportunities for advanced training, re-training and upgrading of already qualified personnel fielded in various government services and in private enterprises.

VISION

The Department of Animal Science as a major unit of the College of Agriculture is dedicated to service and excellence through the provision of relevant instruction and the promotion of research, production, and development endeavors.

MISSION

The Department of Animal Science shall contribute to the promotion of the skilled and educated human resource in the continuing quest for the truth and the upgrading of science and technology for sustainable development and global competitiveness.

OBJECTIVES

To provide basic education & training in animal science on the various areas of specialization appropriate in a highly dynamic society.

To develop a culture of relevant researches & appropriate training skills among students to improve their capabilities to undertake scholarly studies & entrepreneurial endeavors in various commodities.

To help animal science students develop values appropriate to a human society and a sense of  commitment primarily to be of service to their countrymen.

To prepare graduates in a civil society who will respond favorably to the demands of a global economy.

DEPARTMENT OF CROP PROTECTION

GOAL

Sustained crop protection and increased crop production through the application of all aspects of integrated pest management;

Study the mechanisms of insect-plant suscept-pathogen interactions for better understanding of appropriate control;

Reduce usage of chemical pesticides on the control strategy on insect pests, plant diseases and weeds; and

Manipulation of crop environment to make it unfavorable to harmful insects, plant pathogens and weeds and also more favorable to their natural enemies, thus developing an environment conductive for effective control strategies.

OBJECTIVES

To improve faculty readiness and productivity (from syllabus to book);

To train students and professionals, technicians, extension workers, fieldsmen, etc.) in the proper management of insect pests, plant diseases, and weeds;

To handle lectures, demonstrations and/or hands-on training on mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, insect curating, butterfly rearing, disease diagnosis, and other skills related to pest management; and

To conduct relevant researches for global competitiveness on the major problems and issues on Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science.

VISION

The vision of the Department in environment care and safety and promote productive systems where there is enough food for all. This vision is based on the belief that Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science are the foundation stones of food security.

MISSION

The mission of the department is the science, art and practice of integrated pest management methods and techniques.

DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE

GOAL

To provide technical services and human resources in the development of appropriate technologies for sustainable crop production.

To actively participate in the dissemination of appropriate technologies in sustainable crop production through teaching, and extension

OBJECTIVES

To produce graduates who possess scientific and practical knowledge & skills in crop management & the ability to adapt and apply them to the changing real-world agricultural situations.  

To develop/adapt and dissemination crop technologies that are based on appropriate and sustainable farming strategies.

VISION

A department that positively impacts on the countryside development through quality human resources and appropriate crop technologies.

MISSION

The department shall develop agricultural professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, and farm practitioners who possess the right attitude and adequate knowledge and skills in crop management and appropriate technologies for the sustainable development of rural communities and the country, in general.

DEPARTMENT OF SOIL SCIENCE

GOAL

To develop and produce highly qualified graduates in agriculture with specialized knowledge in the field of Soil Science that will provide the needs of both government and private institutions requiring skills for science, research and technology.

OBJECTIVES

To provide formal training to students in the field of soil science.

To produce graduates in soil science who can fill-up at least 20% of the demand in soil science.

To conduct researches in soil fertility management, land use, and soil conservation practices.

To extend technical expertise and information about soil management practices through soil testing and evaluation of fertilizer materials, land resource inventories and planning.

VISION

The Department of Soil Science contributing to excellence in agriculture in the Philippines and Southeast Asia by the 21st century.

MISSION

The Department of Soil Science shall provide quality education in the field of soil science in order to produce highly trained graduates with technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills in soil science and related fields.
