PSSN, CLSU host ICoNSIE 2021
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) thru the International Affairs Office (IAO) and the Philippine Society for the Study of Nature (PSSN) hosted the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting and International Conference on Nature Studies and Innovation for the Environment (ICoNSIE 2021) via Zoom on November 26-27. The conference focused on Nature Exploration, Education, and Innovations during a Disruption.
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) thru the International Affairs Office (IAO) and the Philippine Society for the Study of Nature (PSSN) hosted the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting and International Conference on Nature Studies and Innovation for the Environment (ICoNSIE 2021) via Zoom on November 26-27. The conference focused on Nature Exploration, Education, and Innovations during a Disruption.
CLSU President, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, delivered his welcome message during the Opening Program, saying “Despite making progress in areas such as clean water, sanitation, clean energy and forest management, we still deteriorate and therefore fall short of our targets for 2030, hence, there is greater urgency to elevate our awareness as well as participation of all sectors.” Dr. Maria Ana T. Quimbo, PSSN President (2019-2021) led the awarding of plaque of appreciation to CLSU and likewise gave her opening remarks, sharing the milestones of PSSN.
Dr. Hui Lin Ong from Universiti Malaysia Perlis served as the keynote speaker and she discussed Agrowastes conversion towards Circular Economy for Environmental Sustainability.
Speakers from both national and international institutions shared their research findings and innovations: Dr. Sukendah from University of Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Indonesia; Dr. Chayanis Krittasudthacheewa from Bangkok, Thailand; LTC Joan Lagunda, the executive director in Concurrent Capacity of Pasig River Coordinating and Management Office; and Mr. William Granert, an executive director of Soil and Water Conservation Foundation, Inc. in Cebu City.
Dr. Renato G. Reyes, CLSU Vice President for Academic Affairs and concurrent CLSU-IAO Director, gave the conference overview, highlighting the gist of the event. He also delivered the closing message being the newly-elected PSSN President (2022-2024).
The said conference aimed to create a discursive environment for the sharing of initiatives that promote sustainability, innovations, and flexibility in research endeavors, resource utilization, environmental management, and environmental education in times of disruptions.
