Mr. Jezreel Dave Leybag, assistant choirmaster and College of Education (CEd) faculty member said that aside from their talent, the artistic creativity of their technical team became their key to win in the competition.
“One thing na nag-marka is yung piece itself,” said Mr. Leybag in a Zoom interview. “Yung musical arrangement, napaka galing ng aming arranger…si Dr. Bienvenido Constantino Jr. and most especially, the artistic creativity of the team,” he added.
The said BCS virtual choir festival is CLSU Maestro Singers’ first virtual competition that took them more than a month of preparation and practice.
“First time to do this competitive event for Maestro Singers. More than a month of preparation, at maraming, maraming orientations,” Maestro Singers project director Mr. Ardie Cabatin narrated. “Also, we have made our own Google classroom para pag-se-sendan nila ng mga recordings since hindi kami nagkikita-kita.” He added.
Mr. Leybag also expressed his appreciation for their choirmaster, Dr. Florante P. Ibarra and Mr. Cabatin for helping them win the championship.
“Siya [Dr. Ibarra] yung pinagmanahan namin ng mga singing talent namin. Pangalawa, si Sir Ardie…siya yung nag-o-oversee sa amin, at yung musical [team], at ang higit sa lahat ay ang Panginoon.” He quipped.
The singers also bagged the “Most Viewed” award for Friendship Content and the Folklore Category.
Meanwhile, competition invitations from other countries such as Brazil and Czech are already on deck for the CLSU Maestro Singers.
