Ten Pre-Service Teachers Join the SEA Teacher Program
Aligned with SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnership for the Goals), ten pre-service teachers were screened and chosen to be part of the second batch of the Southeast Asian Teacher (SEA) Teacher Program in Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand from February 06 to March 03, 2023. The SEA Teachers and their parents/guardians were invited to the orientation program at the College of Education (CEd) Amphitheater last January 27, 2023, where the overview and details of the SEA Teacher Program were discussed. Guest speakers who spent years studying in the host countries were invited to share their insights: Dr. Jennifer De Jesus (Indonesia), Dr. Sharon Lazaro (Thailand), and Dr. Karl Marx Quiazon (Japan). Video greetings from former SEA Teacher participants were also shown.

After an intermission number by the SEA Teachers, Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT) 9th placer, Ms. Belen Hernandez gave her testimonial of her experience when she was deployed in Indonesia as part of the first batch of the SEA Teacher program. Mr. Joseph Dubas (BSEd English) shared his thoughts about the program and the upcoming deployment. Ms. Josephine S. Quinit also shared her response on behalf of the parents.
The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). Under this program, select pre-service teachers take part in a month-long student exchange in participating universities.
